Video: Me

Song: Silent Spring, Massive Attack

Have you wondered why we haven’t given any thought to what happens to us if our planet get’s damaged?

Doesn’t it strike you as odd that we don’t push for a society that creates swarms of scientists dedicated to one job… monitoring and understanding our planet to make sure our species can continue living on it.

Considering that we are pumping chemicals, waste materials, and by-products of human life into our world that would never have been here naturally, I ask for a new urgency to make this change. The entire purpose of human life needs to change.

It starts with your decisions. Whether you choose education over entertainment. Whether you choose consideration over consumerism. It all starts with our individual actions.

The video you just watched was taken by NASA’s GEOS-5 atmospheric analysis satellite at a 7-kilometer resolution with the general circulation model. This is ACTUAL footage of the Earth from space. Real pictures… put together to make a video.

The GEOS-5 atmospheric model was developed by NASA Goddard’s scientists. It’s based on the Earth System Modeling Framework, an open source project “for building climate, numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, and other Earth science software applications.”

When you loop together the raw data and make a video, and speed it up a little you realize something magnificient is going on. The planet is breathing.

What I mean by that is if you look over all the forests on the globe, there is a creation of weather. Water vapor from the expiration and inspiration of the trees. We all know this, and learned this as children. But our technology has given us the chance to do something very rare in nature.

The life span of an ant is about 90 days. But ants don’t perceive these ninety days as how we perceive ninety days. Indeed the perception of time is a discussion that still baffles quantum physicists. Rather, appreciating the relativity in all of this harmony called nature is all you need. If you understand that an ant perceives 90 days as an entire lifetime, then all you have to do is scale yourself as the ant like existence you really are in relation to this planet and you realize that the Earth is also a living being. Living… on a different scale.

The discussion is not about whether CO2 is the culprit of climate change, or even if climate change even exists. The discussion is about you looking around and seeing how we have become a society that worships monetary satisfaction over science. We value entertainment and idolize celebrities. Once again I am left thinking is this all that humanity is good for?

I think we owe our home a lot more than outlet stores in the deserts, massive air conditioned structures to store excess stuff, and an unrelenting appetite for greed, destruction, mass consumption and lambastic entertainment.

Just think about it… she’s breathing.

I never really thought I write this essay. But I think it’s necessary.

Look around you. We live in an unprecedented era. A time where our species has the ability to feed, cloth and shelter every one of its members, and live as the dominant species on the planet in peace.

Since the beginning of time, we have suffered. Life it is basically a process of suffering to weed out the ineffective versions of a species. We used to participate in that process. Not that long ago, we too played on the same field as other species on this planet, and participated in the daily competition to feed. We struggled make sure we could pass on progeny and to claim our piece of the experience called “Life” on a rock we all share… Earth.

But today, we live in a era where we are on the verge of resolving almost every problem that survival poses. Even the ones that haven’t been solved yet are no longer and issue since we have in place a system we call Science. This system studies and analyzes the nature and composure of the world around us, and makes logical conclusions. This allows our species to evolve with a steady forward moving pace. This is because science is based on loyalty to one universal imperative: logic. Sometime in the not too distant future, we will be able to describe and understand every natural phenomenon, every natural process.

The key word in the sentence above is ‘sometime’. Just as we had to understand the measurement of mass, the measurement of distance, mathematics and a whole bunch of other sciences to be able to send a 12 members of our species to our moon; we have to give time for our science to build on itself (with logic as it’s guide), to become masters of the understood universe. Imagine if our species continued to revere science since the time of the Greeks, and progressed to the next level of it’s evolution rather than destroy itself over imaginary stories of who’s God is better. Where we would be now? Would we have travelled the Solar System? Would we have understood how to preserve and create life? Would we have served our Creator better by having respected and revered It’s creation so much so, that we would step up to the noble task of serving as the custodians of Life?

This is unfortunate is not what we are choosing. In a a world where we can live without suffering, where we understand how to extract natural resources, where we can educate every person to the same level of knowledge, we choose to value gossip, entertainment, consumerism, and the abyss of ignorance (I just can’t bring myself to literally say it). We have made the choice that which “jeans are in season next fall”, or “who is going to be the next American Idol?” is more important than feeding every member of our species, and making sure that every generation is better equipped to understand science so that it may evolve and progress to a higher state and respect our universe and this miracle called Life.

Look around you, in every corner of the world, you see death, destruction, financial issues, corruption, and someone saying that they are different or special compared to another human being. We still haven’t evolved out of the level of animalism that doesn’t require the ego to be massaged with the expression of “dominance” to justify it’s importance? Doesn’t that make you sad? That without knowing it, we all participate in a game which is basically that we are all trying constantly to delineate our dominance over each other? We buy clothes that identify us as separate individuals and care that we define our “image” to make sure we are perceived as individuals. We use the material world that we have become masters at manipulating (i.e. Making clothing, machines that move us around, and buildings that condition our air, and boxes that preserve our food, and pills that kill infection, and on and on…) to prove that we are better than each other. How you dress, what you drive, where you live and how you eat. I am better than you. And he is better than me. Oh, and look, she is better than him. Our simple animal minds still can’t expel this primitive notion of exertion of dominance in order to pass on our genes.

I say we have that opportunity. But those who ask you to just believe, and not question… they are the ones who are stopping us from evolving. They are the ones who are asking of you to stop your rightful place amongst the stars, and become an inter-stellar species. One that serves to spread the gift that it’s Creator gave it… Life. The “faith-pushers” are the ones who ask you to remain ignorant of how it all works. That has been the battle since the beginning.

Whether history takes a turn to the right direction before it is too late for this species to shed this primitive and final step and evolve to the next level of “being” is yet to be decided.

The problem (I regret to inform you ) is that this decision, is actually in your hands.

You see. You, me and everyone around us, are members of the modern era of the story of Homo Sapien Sapien. Put your Bibles, Torahs, and Korans down and listen carefully. Every generation has had this chance. But obviously, none have heeded the task.

This generation can. Imagine if every one us tried to elevate each other. Imagine a world where we learned from our atrocious past and didn’t kill each other because of our ignorance of each other?

We live in this world this way, because we choose to. Thus our choices create the story. If you bought a piece of clothing, in a store in America; with your purchase, you voted that it is okay to have another human being paid the equivalent of 10 cents to work an entire day in a factory, so that you can conveniently “choose” your “style” without effort or suffering.

We enslave each other friends. We all do it, and we all silently agree that it is okay. It is as Jean-Jacques Rousseau named it, we live by “The Social Contract”.

As I said, I would like to bring to your attention that we are choosing to sign this contract. Thus our world today… our economies, our religious debates, our racist positions, and many of our other problems. That is because as science has shown us, taking the time to understand a problem with logical analysis only, we are rewarded with the ability to solve that problem. The fact that we still have these simple problems, and more, shows how we have turned back, and decided to look the other way from science, and cover our eyes with superstition and mystical ideas.

And so we head down the splendid path of “the species that could, but never did.” Everyone has heard of stories of the people of Atlantis, a long lost civilization what was supposedly much more advanced than we are? We hear stories of the end of the world, and 2012. We have become accustomed to the idea that the end is coming? Why is that? Why isn’t it possible for us to learn, and evolve. Use our science to figure out interplanetary travel, and spread life to the corners of our galaxy? We did this when we chose to leave our countries on a boat made of wood to discover what’s out there across the ocean. Why did we stop? Did we explore the entire planet so that once we occupied every corner of it, we could build as many Gaps, Star-Bucks and McDonald’s we could? I think not?

Something is stopping us. Our social contract is broken and needs to be replaced.

We’ve had 10,000 years of civilization to figure this out, and we still fight and bicker and conquer each other to prove our dominance. Don’t you feel it’s time we grew up?

Could it be possible that we wind up like the characters of the stories we hear like Atlantis? I mean even if the outlandish idea of Atlantis doesn’t resonate with you, history presents us with 6 different “Civilizations” (i.e. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Persians, and Mongols) that ruled their worlds, and disappeared to prove that this model needs to change.

We are doing the same thing. Over and over.

I makes me sad when I meet people and I talk about these things, that they look at me with bewilderment and amazement at the same time, and ask… “Wow… it is nice to see people who think this way are out there”. I think to myself, it’s in every one of us. If we only took the time to come outside at night, and look up at the stars and wonder what goes on out there, we would contemplate these things. I’m not different than the others, I only choose to open my eyes and look.

Maybe if we all thought of our species, Life, and our planet with a different level of respect, there would be more people having this conversation and things would be different in our world right tomorrow.

Are we doing what the angels that live within us did?

Spirit occupies the bodies and experiences the 3rd dimension through our senses. Are we mimicking this with our insatiable appetite for more accurate facsimiles of reality? Imagine an image so real, that you see it in full 3 dimensional quality, and it has depth because you have gloves on that give you feedback for touch. Other senses like sound, smell and all the gravity being stimulated the way your vision is.

How would you know what is real? After all, you experience you because of your senses. You feel the chair underneath you, which gives you a sense of what is up. You smell the air, and hear the sounds of the space you are in. These add to your experience of dimension. You see with your eyes taking in light. Not ALL light however…only a sampling of the spectrum the universe offers. You cannot hear every sound-wave either, only a sampling. Dimension? You are limited to only 4.

What you are left to compile of all this, is what you consider to be real, but it’s only a sampling.

Just like the creation of modern man: the television, the creation of angels: homo sapien, has a limited definition of what it can present to it’s viewer as real. No matter how high the resolution of the imageboxes (TVs) that you will see developed by our entertainment obsessed world of technology in the next 50 years… it will not be reality. So then it is fair to argue that the 3 dimensional world that your bodies experience, is actually virtual; since the flawed machine you occupy (the human body), can only perceive samplings of reality, which are infinitesimal in comparison full spectrums of the spirit world.

The truth stands regardless of thoughts.

“and when I look closer, I realize these aren’t walls,

but shafts of light

they are bending

to the touch, of our skin

…hidden in plain sight.”

Wake Up.

Not that long ago, we too played on the same field as other species on this planet, and competed to feed, to pass on progeny and to claim stake to a piece of the experience of life on this rock we all share… Earth.

So we head down the splendid path of the species that could, but never did. Everyone has head of stories of the theoretical people of Atlantis, a long lost civilization what was far more advanced than we are? We all live with theories of the end of the world, and 2012. We have been accustomed to the idea that the end is coming? Why is that? Why isn’t it possible for us to learn, and evolve. Use our science to figure out interplanetary travel, and spreading life to the corners of our galaxy? We did this when we chose to leave our countries on a boat made of wood to discover what’s out there across the ocean. Why did we stop? So once we explored and occupied every corner of the planet, we could build as many Gaps, Star-Bucks and McDonald’s we could on it? I think not? Something is stopping us. Our social contract is broken and needs to be replaced.

We’ve had 10,000 years of civilization to figure this out, and we still fight and bicker and conquer each other to prove our dominance. Don’t you feel it’s time we grew up?

Could it be possible that we wind up like the characters of the stories we hear about Atlantis? I mean even if the outlandish idea of Atlantis doesn’t resonate with you, you have 6 sets of rule of most of the planet by different “Mini-Civilizations” (i.e. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Persians, and Mongols) to prove that this needs to change.

We are doing the same thing people. Over and over.

I makes me sad when I meet people and I talk about these things, that they look at me with bewilderment and amazement at the same time, and ask… “Wow… it is nice to see people who think this way are out there”. I wonder, it’s in every one of us. If we only took the time to come outside at night, and look up at the stars and wonder what goes on out there, we would contemplate these things. I’m not different than the others, I only choose to open my eyes now, and learn.

Maybe if we all thought of our species, Life, and our planet with a different level of respect, there would be more people having this conversation and things would be different on our planet right now.

Night shows the truth. Look up. What you see is reality. During the “illusion” of the day, the light from the sun takes away your ability to see the reality of what exists outside our world. Night is a gift. When you turn off the light bulb of our solar system, you get to see what it looks like out there. How of us get how important that is?

Song: High Roller by The Crystal Method

What you just watched is the most advanced step Homo Sapien Sapien has made in it’s entire history on this planet. We have ENGINEERED a machine that we sent into space, that sits at a specific location which is calculated by us. This machine captures images of OUR HOME PLANET… in color, and transmits them to us wirelessly, so we can see a full cycle of a day, with the life giving light of the Sun, AND THE ROTATION OF THE MOON, AROUND our home planet… as if we were sitting there watching is… but get this… we make it available for EVERY person with internet access to see…. That my friends, is the pinnacle of human evolution, and the advancement of science to advance the human race, and the planet, and Life.

Welcome my friend to the beginning of the new era. You are a fortunate soul, because compared to the rest of humanity, very few of us have seen a change in era. Imagine being one of the humans who witnessed the agricultural revolution. Imagine being part of the few who discovered the heavens, and saw the first signs of planets around ours. Today, you are part of the beginning of the transformation of the human race. The technological revolution. This is the era where Homo Sapien will have to careful walk the line that lead them up to this point, and now make a 180° turn and remember where it came from and why it came all this way.

Life is about procreation, but in this final stage, we are faced with the decision of whether we will acknowledge the impact of 6 billion homo sapiens consuming natural resources at exponential rates, or we will use the technologic advanced of humanity to make our lives less useful and more lazy.

A dear friend of mine recently sent me a link to a TED Talk (if you haven’t checked them out yet, you really need to), and I didn’t get a chance to view it for a while. So I recently made the time to watch the talk. The speaker Juan Enriquez (check out his bio HERE), in his discussion (HERE) he forecast that in the near future, we will see a new species of homo sapien, homo evolutis. Like most other species, there is evidence that shows overlap of the time they spent in an era. Evolution is an ongoing process, and it would be naive of us to think that it is going to stop with us. Rather, we are going to change our role in the concept of evolution. Instead of having natural selection express itself on us, we are going to be the dictators of evolution and the advancement of life.

You see, the problem is that life is THE MOST precious commodity in the universe. The manifestation of (what we all agree is an abstract idea) consciousness or spirit, in the physical form. This fragile process is just as vulnerable as it is beautiful. So it makes sense for life to try it’s hand at creating an organism that can perpetuate life elsewhere in the universe. I really want you all to try for a second and wrap your minds around this concept.

Think of Life as an organism. Think of the idea of Life being a process that spirit experiences matter. If it is looked at from this perspective, then it makes sense for it to strive to continue, just as the organisms in Life do. So Life is trying to create a life-form, that can harness the very essence of life, and pass it throughout the universe. Homo Sapien is that organism.

If this really is case, then Homo Sapien is the exquisite pride and joy of millions of years of evolutionary strife. Look at yourselves. You are masterpieces of creation. Perfect in every mechanical, and philosophic form. Capable of creating devices that will allow you to out perform any physical manifestation of Life. Birds can fly, but we can fly higher, faster and longer. Cheetahs are fast, but we can move faster on different kinds of terrain with minimal effort. Every physical limitation is being engineered away. Every domain is being conquered. Micro-organisms like bacteria are being ensnared as slaves and operate as our factory workers for antibiotics, food, energy and a whole list of other applications. We build structures that would never exist. We appreciate our home from a perspective that no other life form on this planet has been able to… from space. Our species is the culmination of all the efforts Life has put into an evolved life form.

My question then is why is it that the most promising organism alive on this world is wasting it’s time fighting wars against itself, and selling itself the idea that money is the most important thing in life. We place value on anything that is obtainable via a monetarily based system. You can buy nice cars, and nice houses, and nice clothes. But you cannot buy honesty, honor, respect. These are things that are passed on with the ancient system of the oral tradition. Taught from one generation to another. But in our technologic world, we have lost ourselves, and let our creations teach our kids. We no longer stop our children from straying from their purpose in this world, but rather invite it into their lives. We live teaching them that bigger cars, bigger houses, and more stuff, all mark the finish line in the race of success for a human being. Education now focuses on achieving success in your career and getting all the stuff that goes with that success.

Everywhere you look, people want more stuff. They aspire to own cars, live in bigger houses, and just collect more stuff. We never give a second to think about the potential of being a different kind of being. Imagine a world where we started to actually use our resources to educate every person. Imagine a world where science lead the way, and these advanced hairless apes now travelled the solar system and had a complex network of resource and life management across multiple planets. This is what we are capable of.

But instead of focusing our technology, I mean really focusing all of our resources and energy on the technologic advancement of the human race and of life, with a resource based economy that insures the education and health of every being, we build shopping centers, and fill them with enough stuff to clothe, furnish and feed the entire world. Our economy is not based on the advancement of the human race, rather the satisfaction of our shared dirty little secret… greed. We want profit, we want more, and we don’t care if the guy next to us doesn’t have any.

Look, here is some perspective on this weirdo stuff in my head… if we look at inflation adjusted numbers, the current wave of bailouts costs more than all of these big budget government expenditures in the past combined:

• Marshall Plan: Cost: $12.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $115.3 billion
• Louisiana Purchase: Cost: $15 million, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $217 billion
• Race to the Moon: Cost: $36.4 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $237 billion
• S&L Crisis: Cost: $153 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $256 billion
• Korean War: Cost: $54 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $454 billion
• The New Deal: Cost: $32 billion (Est.), Inflation Adjusted Cost: $500 billion (Est.)
• Invasion of Iraq: Cost: $551b, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $597 billion
• Vietnam War: Cost: $111 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $698 billion
• NASA: Cost: $416.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $851.2 billion

TOTAL: $3.92 trillion
BAILOUT: $4.6165 trillion and growing.

For those who prefer graphics, go HERE.

The point is that we are pumping out money for things that could be used to solve all of the problems out species is going to face in the next 20 years… food shortage, water shortage, oil shortage, and a long list of really nasty medical things.

Why are you allowing for this to happen? Do you not care about your children and their future? The fact that you live your lives and just go alone with the normal world, hunky dory is just not going to work. Things cannot sustain themselves this way. I know that if you think about it, you will derive the same conclusion. It really is not an opinion, it is just simple science.

Future Arms Today...

In the video, Juan Enriquez talks about the next generation of homo sapien. He bases this ideal on the premise that we acknowledge that our current economic model is not sustainable. He is right. The system that is based on consumer debt, and consumption is not the system that takes into consideration the advancement of the human race, and of life. Rather, a system that revolves around science, education and technology will continue to flourish indefinitely because at it’s very core is logic, intellect and scientific process.

Merged with Beauty!

I have always had my variation of Mr. Enriquez’ talk… I pose the question why then with all this advanced ability, why do we waste our time making malls, building track homes, and selling things and lifestyles to each other, when we are here to serve a higher purpose. Even religion has been derailed, where the higher purpose is to go to an alter and pray “hoping” or “believing” that something will change, not actually BEING the change.

Homo sapien is the crown jewel of evolution of creationism. Either model puts us at the top with our ability to feel emotion, our ability to craft tools, our ability to harness the power of nature, out ability to engineer around any problem. But because of our insatiable appetite for stuff, we have been derailed from our prime role on this spaceship we call Earth. This appetite for stuff does not end with clothes, cars and houses. With the appearance of homo evolutis on the stage of evolution, you will start to see people with the new and improved vision systems, and hearing systems that Mr. Enriquez talks about. EXCEPT… what he fails to acknowledge as an idealistic scientist is that it will be sold to you NOT to improve life as the next form of homo sapien and to advance life; but rather, it will be sold for entertainment. HD zoom eyes with a built-in bluetooth connection to streaming data so when you are watching the Lakers your digital zoom eyeball will have a ticker with stats and live internet streams of all the data you “think” is important for your sporting experience. Of course there will be a monthly subscription.

Look at the technology of listening devices and how it has bled into regular life as the ubiquitous bluetooth headset. So now every person, regardless of whether they are actually talking or not, is walking around with a headset and a flashing blue light stuck to their cranium? This has got to be a bad dream… someone wake me up! The emergence of cell phones as this “must have” device is just ludicrous. Why are we so addicted to communicating about nothing? Think back ten years ago when we didn’t ALL have cell phones, and what did we do in our cars? What are we talking about now, that we weren’t talking about then? So why is it so important now that every person you look at in the freeway is yapping away on a phone.

This article will serve as the first in a series of updates on your new neighbor, homo evolutis. I will give you insight into some of the most interesting and shocking technologic advancements in medicine and robotics. I feel it is critical to give the public access to this information because without thinking, you will all adopt this “better” way of life… and piece by piece give away your humanity and slowly morph into a “borg” styled mess referred to so lovingly referred to by Mr. Enriquez as homo evolutis.

There is no better way of LIVING. Living is when the spirit (whether you consider it a soul, or the additive result of neuronal activity) occupies an organic body, and experiences the world. It is only when you understand this, remove your bluetooth headset, and go for a walk in the park without your cell phone, when you realize how cluttered and stressed your new borg life is. Our ears have muted out and become accustomed to the background noise of the city and cars. But in reality, you evolved to listen to birds, the sound of the wind and the blissful silence of nature. Do me this favor and count how many airplanes you hear fly over you in a day, and ask yourself: is that natural? What effect does that have on my psyche?

Brave new times await you homo sapien. It starts with an earpiece, then zoom glasses, which will morph into a digital eye, and then mechanical limbs, and organs, and before you know it the insertion of consciousness into the network… but I think I’ve gone too far for the first article.

Absurd. Mislead. Obtuse. All words that exist on the periphery of our descriptions of the people we commune with in the modern world. We look at our fellow journey-mates through this thing we call life as average representations of what it means to be human. But all you have to do is remove the shroud from your eyes, and the world appears different.

Undertaking this experience is ridiculed by our society. As David Icke puts it, “we govern ourselves… they don’t need to govern us, we govern ourselves on what is “normal” and what is not”. When you consider the well being of the Earth a more important endeavor than the “war on terror”, you are immediately categorized. People look at this world from the same adolescent perspective that started their smoking habit in high school… peer pressure.

Judging ourselves and our way of life is a seriously difficult proposition. Getting a person to judge themselves has been a failure of humanity since the infancy of civilization. So religion stepped in and commanded center stage with guilt, and sin. But even then, certain ideals escaped the strong arm of God and damnation of your soul to hell forever. I mean, “Though shall not kill” was pretty clear. But “Though shall respect Thy home, Thy planet, and Thy co-habitants of it” was a little too complicated… let’s leave that one out and stay on task… besides, doesn’t 10 Commandments seem more even, more balanced, more marketable?

So we live and evolve even faster into a strange perturbation of evolution making a bad mistake. (Evolution speaking… “Geez, I thought creating a complex being like a human would give the world the eyes and ears it needed to be appreciated with? I mean a creature that cherishes art, appreciates music, and can engineer tools? That has got to have SOME benefit for the world?”) Unfortunately for Nature though, evolution dealt it a raw hand.

Homo Sapien Sapien has evolved into a self serving creature, taking from this world whatever it seems fit. No consideration for the disruption of balance in the equation… WE are the privileged ones here. Other beings, and non-beings do not matter. Not only will we take beings that are alive today and turn them into food, clothing, entertainment, and laboratories; we are entitled to their remains so that we can drive our SUVs to our McMansions. (In case you are curious about that last sentence, oil comes from the decomposed organic remains of lifeforms millions of years ago).

I recently stumbled across an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal. This was sent to me by a colleague warning of the impending financial future of the United States. The article is linked HERE and is titled “As Times Turn Tough,
New York’s Wealthy Economize: Plastic Surgeons, Jewelers, Yacht Builders Brace for Leaner Times; Saying No to Caviar”. It discusses the tough financial situation that we are experiencing having an effect on a “regular” well off American family the Ashers. A rhinoplasty (a nose job) was “something of a rite of passage for Joan Asher’s children”, and it continues on “But when her fourth and last child was ready for her own rhinoplasty recently, Ms. Asher asked her to postpone it. The financial markets were simply more out of whack than her 16-year-old’s proboscis. “The other noses were more prominent,” the stay-at-home mother from a tiny New York City suburb in Westchester County told her 16-year-old daughter, she could get hers done when things settled down.”

Again, so what right? Read between the lines folks. A major newspaper is writing about the effects of the financial strain on families who were buying nose jobs for their 16 year old children, without one mention of how absurd the idea of buying a 16 year old a nose job even is! We have become so weak in dealing with realities that we see it okay to allow this to bleed into our children’s worlds. If you have a body image problem when you are 16, go ahead and fix it honey… don’t grow and work around the issues… just fix the nose and look like everyone else. Give in to the peer pressure.

But my essay is not just about that… I want you to see that the Wall Street Journal makes no mention of this. It is never mentioned in the light that maybe we are screwed up, and the financial crisis is but one facet of some of the results of this obtuse life we lead. Think about it? Why is it that we need to even point out the relevancy of the financial crisis by using an abnormal behavior as one of the victims as well? Is it not good enough to point out that people are losing their homes, or that inflation, unemployment, poor education systems, and taxpayers financing a never ending war are crippling our society?

The story sends the subtle message that wealthy people are able to pay for their 16 year old kids to look normal, or perfect. So if you’re wealthy, or want to live like you’re wealthy, you might simulate that behavior to be part of that herd. If you need an example of this, remember a show about a successful, single mid-thirties editor and her 3 other single female friends living in New York City circa 1998? The main character mentions a love for her shoes, and boom…the Manolo Blahnik craze begins. We are SO herd mentality, that in denial, we create versions of individualism, then package and sell these to each other and a herd is created of “unique individuals” who dress the same, listen to the same music, live by the same ideals.

The mainstream media is untrustworthy because they have failed to provide you with introspective writing that opens and discusses the deeper issues that operate behind the scenes. It has dumbed us down and provided us with only the fluff on top. No more complex essays that dissect the issue into the history behind it and what the past and present mean together. All you need to do is read the Wall Street Journal Article (HERE) and then read another article written in Le Monde Diplomatique (HERE), a french newspaper well known for its objective reporting.

You may have suffered from the very disease that I am going to point out now. The fact that you clicked on the links to the articles, but scanned the first few paragraphs and noticed the length and complexity of the articles, but decided you’re time is spent better elsewhere, “heck it’s summarized it for me here, so why should I read the original?” (I know, believe me, I used to suffer from that disease too…) Or maybe you didn’t even click on the links?

The point is that (maybe) you didn’t get into the complexities of the situations. A summary will do. Give me the info in a sound bite, and let’s me move on to the next topic. I know this because as many emails I have from you all complimenting the site, just as many emails have jumped into my inbox telling me that “the articles are excellent and really make you think… but could you make them shorter?” Or I really like this one… I see one of you, and you say “Hey I read your recent article… excellent point!”, I ask, “Really? Thank you… did you like the part about the how justify using oil to fight war?, and I get this answer: “Oh… no, I only had time to read the beginning of that one… but I was going to read it later…”

So we live in a society that has tipped past the point of no return, where even discussion about absurdity and obtuse ideology is no longer entertained. Let’s focus our attention on what to buy next? What’s “in” for Spring at the house of Chanel, or I wonder what new material Louis Vuitton will use for the new line in the Fall… they made purses out of jeans, vinyl, and dead Cow… what’s next? (oooh, how exciting!)

And our media celebrates this… like that friend that holds the crack pipe for you on your first time. I’ve always been an optimistic person, and believe in the imagination and spirit in Homo Sapien Sapien. But every day that passes, I realize that this disease that we suffer from, is not only terminal, but highly contagious. It spreads like an epidemic and spares no one it infects. Once inserted into your psyche, the “virus” operates via the reptilian mind to steer our choices based on fear. Fear of rejection, fear of being hurt in a car accident, or fear of looking like a failure. So we change our faces, we buy bigger cars, and we live in bigger fancier homes.

Please show me that I am wrong. Please prove to me that I am completely wrong about this whole process unfolding in front of all of our eyes. Start by reading the Le Monde article (HERE). Not because of what it is written about, but how it is written. Stay the course. See if you can get your wrap your brain around this article, not just read it, but feel the ideas, place yourself in the reader’s mind and truly comprehend the intent.

If you’ve done this already (because I would never insinuate that you all haven’t read it), begin to speak like this. Talk to people about these relevant ideas. Begin the process of opening other people’s eyes. The vaccine for this disease is spread only by awareness and dialog. I know I ask this of you often, but I need you all to prove me wrong. Because if I am right, you and I are doomed.
