Fathers.  Something we all have in common.  Although these male partners only contribute “information” in the creation of life, they play a very important role.  You see, when life is created, the mother contributes all of the actual material the person is made of.  The father contributes only genetic information.  The actual mass of the DNA that carries this information is negligible to the mass of the human being being created.  So your mom gives you everything you are made of, and your father contributes information for how you should be created.

This information is what makes you who you are.  This information is more than just genetic code.  It carries over into their role in your life.  Being a father and sharing information about life, you develop better equipped than he was for the rigors that await you in the game of life.  So fathers, in actuality, and in philosophy, are the facilitators of evolution.  They contribute a very important variable in the advancement of a species: information (a.k.a genetic code) variation for the advancement of the species (or individual if we look at information as sharing experiences and guidance).

My father is a perfect example of this.  I am who I am because of this man.  Imagine growing up in your country, watching your parents with their friends.  Think of all your childhood experiences and memories.  Now think of your school years, proms and graduations.  Think of your wedding day, and every other wonderful experience you use to define your life story with… the smells, the sounds.

Now think of these being taken away from you, because someone has a religious ideal that they think is more valuable than your liberty.  This is what happened to my father.  This man was displaced from his identity of being an Iranian, by a revolution that he had no part in.  Who used to be perceived as an upstanding members of the human race, are now referred to as terrorists.  The word Iran conjures up images of a nuclear powered Islamic country that threatens the world because it has a bone to pick with Israel.  But nobody is told that we are people who have 5000 years of history and civilization and our civilization lasted much longer than the current civilization we are part of, the Modern Western Era of Humanity.

This essay is about my father, but it’s also about all of our fathers, and where we are headed if we don’t wake up fast.  My father made that decision.  He decided that his own memories, and his experience wasn’t as valuable compared to his future.  The information he had conveyed were his children.  If we didn’t have an opportunity to thrive, and to get educated, and be away from the “mental cap” of religious fundamentalism, he knew that we were doomed.  So he gave up his own country, his identity, and brought his family to America.  Here we had the opportunity to get educated, without religious imposition or brainwashing.

So coming to America was in actuality, my father’s way of securing our future.  He knew that he would probably never be able to go back to his old way of life.  The things that you and I take for granted every single day… you know, the freedoms, the familiar places, the places you have made your memories.  He left all that behind, to take a step towards the evolution of his progeny.  And now, we are all educated, and contribute to the human race for the positive progress that is reflected by this very website.

This ideal doesn’t stop with our fathers dedicating their lives to their children however.  Just as my father decide to give up what he considered to be the good way of life in exchange years of difficulty, hard work, social ramifications and live a life in ghorbat so that his progeny might have a better life; our modern fathers need to lead the way, and realize that the life they are used to calling normal… is no longer sustainable.  Our world is changing rapidly.  With 6 billion human beings, this planet simply CANNOT sustain the mining, harvesting fishing, building and mass consumption of every resource available on this rock we call Earth.

Father’s contribute information.  They help evolution (which is no more than a definition of the improvement of a species to it’s selecting factors) advance.  So by contributing information, you make life better.  This information shows itself in many different forms.  My father has dedicated his life to us.  He stayed up late and carried us on his shoulders ’till we fell asleep when we were little, he worked extra hours to make sure we had everything we needed in school.  He left his heritage to make sure we had an opportunity to expand our minds, and grow as human beings.  He built successful businesses, and lost fortunes, but never fell, and was always there, supporting us (WITHOUT the help of the government!)  He dealt with problems that I can’t even imagine at twice his age when he dealt with them.  All this dedication resulted in a family of human beings that are not defined by what they consume, but what they stand for.  This website is a result of that dad.

Making a difference in our world is the only thing we leave behind.  Our legacy is what will define our civilization as one that valued it’s role in the story of homo sapien, or not.  Real fathers will lead they way.  If you read this, and have children, you know what you have to do.  It’s hard, it will feel foreign.  But changing HOW you live, and WHAT you value is what will ensure your children have a secure and blissful future.  If you’re not a father, you still are judged by this.  Because being a real father, actually means being a real man.  And being a real man means thinking, strategizing and planning before acting.  These are the primal factors of a good hunter.  I have given you the information many times, you have been given the choice to act, or to ignore it.

It’s time you opened your eyes and changed your life, for your children’s sake.  My dad did, and the only thing I can do to thank him, is to keep doing what he did… and to thank him.

If it wasn’t for your strength pops, none of use would be who we are today… and for that I cannot thank you enough.

BTW a funny…a few years back Robert Kennedy Jr. was running for a local office in So Cal. The ever-inspiring politicos’ wife and mother to the end, Eunice Kennedy, went canvassing door-to-door in Santa Monica for her boy. Can you imagine answering a knock at the door and seeing Eunice Kennedy standing there with a flyer? LMAO every time I get the visual. Now, that dame is one helluva momma.
